Your favorite black sheep.

Let your rare and one-of-a-kind style shine with this handmade Sardinian basket, proudly bearing a pecora nera, or black sheep, motif. Each basket is 100% handwoven following the ancient a Pibiones technique, which creates a stiched-relief pattern within the center.

Although they are safe to come in contact with food, these baskets are designed to be more decorative and not recommended for everyday use. Hang it up as a decorative artwork or use it as a beautiful centerpiece for your table or console.

Sheep are symbolic of Sardinia, as they represent one of the island’s most important products: pecorino sardo, sheep’s milk cheese. In particular, the Nera di Arbus, are a black sheep breed indigenous to Sardinia that nearly went extinct in the 70s but are now becoming more widely recognized and preserved throughout the island.

About the Producer

Since 1970, Stilesardo has been curating a collection of unique Sardinian objects. Located in Sennori, a commune in the northwest part of Sardinia, this small cooperative only sells items that are strictly produced in Sardinia, working with artisans across the island who craft jewelry, tapestries, baskets, ceramics, and other souvenirs. A common thread amongst their collection is the use of traditional Sardinian materials, methods, and motifs.
