Make room for seconds.

In Italy, this style of piatto fondo (deep plate) was found in countryside homes and used for every course since the 1800s. Today, you’ll still find this kind of plate in every Italian kitchen. This collection is affectionately known as A Pranzo dalla Nonna – “Lunch at Nonna’s” – because that’s exactly how your grandmother would dish out multiple servings of fresh handmade pasta during a big Sunday lunch.

Choose from the following hand-painted Italian phrases:

  • that’s amore <3 (limited edition)
  • ho ancora fame – i’m still hungry!
  • a tavola non si invecchia mai –  one never grows old at the table
  • la bellezza passa, la fame no – beauty fades, hunger doesn’t
  • l’ingrediente segreto è l’amore – the secret ingredient is love
  • l’appetito vien mangiando – eating awakens the appetite

What to know:

  • Enamelware made in Slovenia, then custom hand-painted in Italy
  • Handwash very gently! Only warm water, no abrasive sponges or sharp tools. The painted phrases are not glazed.
  • Never put in the microwave or dishwasher

Description

Materials

Enamelware with hand-painted phrases.

Care Instructions

These dishes can get hot! Handle with care when serving your soups or pasta in brodo. To keep your dishes in good shape, hand wash in cold water with a non-abrasive sponge and gentle dish detergent. Note: the hand-painted phrases are heat-treated but not glazed. Abrasive sponges and sharp knives will scratch the hand-painted decoration. To protect the hand-painted designs, dishwasher cleaning is also not recommended. Nota bene: never put your enamel bowls in the microwave.

Italian phrase bowls

Hi, I love the bowls, however, after the very first time I used one of them, the writing came off a little. Mind you, I washed very the bowl gently with a soft sponge and mild dish detergent. I am a food stylist and content creator and bought them for my photos. I am just afraid to use them and I am unhappy with them. I absolutely love the aesthetic and was hoping to maybe get another one sent to me. I do plan on purchasing several more tools as well… Best, Bebe

Gorgeous

Exactly what I wanted them to be and more. They are tin so they hold the heat of the pasta as beautifully as they display it. Perfect size. Pretty enough to display but too good not to use!

Enamel bowls

So adorable! And the perfect size for pasta too. I love how lightweight the bowls are, and even though they can't go in the dishwasher, it's really easy to clean them with warm, soapy water.
